We had the opportunity to meet the new Yoga Channel Champion, and could not be more thrilled to have her on board.

Hi Melissa welcome to, could you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Hi, yes, of course, my name is Melissa, I am a mother, a fiancée, a career woman, a business owner, a yoga instructor, a meditation practitioner, and a holistic life coach.

In my mid-20s, I discovered a passion for endurance training, fitness, nutrition, and health. I love to learn and share my findings with whoever wants to listen or read them.

I don’t come from any fitness background. I was not flexible and I couldn’t touch my toes. I know what it means to begin your fitness journey and I love to be a resource for people who want to do just like I did.

Could you please explain how your passion for Yoga was born?

10 years ago, I saw a Groupon code for Bikram Yoga (Hot Yoga). When I joined the class, it was so hard that I quit after 3 sessions and never went back (okay, I went back to Hot Yoga a few times since). Yoga stayed in the back of my mind since then.

I have learned years later, that it is one of the hardest forms of yoga, not recommended for beginners. When my daughter was born, I wanted to get back in shape, but I needed an activity that I could do from home, so I downloaded a free version of an application for yoga and started to practice.

As life went on, even when yoga was not part of my life on a daily basis, I would still go back to it over and over again. It was for injury prevention during training or release of anxiety and more.

Over the last 4 years, it has just become part of my daily life. I would always end up on my mat, learning more and more as I practiced, now I wouldn’t look back. It is a part of my life.

During my training as a Yoga teacher, I discovered the other side of yoga, which is the community, the challenges, and the support. From every challenge I was participating in, I learned how stronger I can be. There is so much to learn, it’s a never-ending journey.

2.- What is the philosophy behind your way of teaching?

We hear a lot about “no pain, no gain” or going all in at all times, which I don’t believe in. I believe some shock once in a while might be beneficial for a certain type of training, but in general, a slow, consistent approach is better.

I promote yoga for everyone, especially beginners. I don’t believe someone can’t benefit from yoga. There are plenty of different styles for what you are looking for.

It’s not a practice you become good at overnight. It takes time, like every good thing in life. If you put in the effort, have fun and listen to what your body needs, that’s all it matters, the flexibility, strength, and weight loss comes with all of it as time goes on.

3.- Why do you think Yoga is beneficial?

Beyond the flexibility that you will gain when you start practicing yoga regularly. It also can provide you with reduced stress and anxiety, by being present on your mat during your practice you can start to enjoy a more peaceful life. There have been a multitude of studies done that prove how yoga can be beneficial for an endless list of issues you might have and a perfect way to increase your heart rate or relax you if that’s what you need. It’s truly the perfect practice for everyone, wherever you are in your life.

4.- You are the champion and leader of the Yoga Channel at, what are your short-term expectations?

I am beyond excited to become a champion and lead for the Yoga Channel. My goal is to release educational information and videos for everyone to start or continue their journey. I want to provide the best advice to overcome some of the common problems that bring people to yoga. For example, hip pain, low back, etc. This will be a resource where the information can be trusted and provide you with what you need.

5.- Would you like to leave a message for all our readers?

I am happy to start this new journey with, having the opportunity to help all of you get the information you are looking for means the world to me. I became a yoga teacher to help people and I know that a lot of you can benefit from introducing yoga into your daily life. Let’s work together to build a community and resources that give you all you are looking for.
